Whether it’s working with the zoo’s animals or helping prepare their lunches, the Wild Week summer school programme offers children between the ages of 7 and 11 the chance to get behind the scenes of Paignton Zoo. The programme offers five fun-filled days of one-of-a-kind animal experiences alongside the Paignton zookeepers. Be warned though, they’ll probably get more than a bit muddy before the week is done!

Start the engines, stoke the fires and head on down to this year’s Torbay Steam Fair. As one of the highlights of the Torbay summer calendar, the Torbay Steam Fair has been entertaining and educating steam fanatics and casual visitors alike for over 30 years.

This year’s show promises to be the biggest ever, with a wide range of working steam engines as well as vintage and classic cars and trucks, military displays, market stalls and much more. If you’re feeling a little tired from exploring, then you can take a break and grab a pick-me-up from one of the many bars or catering tents. There are even special arts and crafts and activities to help keep the kids entertained.

Attracting visitors from all over the country, the Torbay Steam Fair is one not to miss.

Taking place just outside the walls of historical Dartmouth Castle, this weeklong celebration of “The Bard” is presented by the Inn Theatre Company. The annual event sees the area’s most talented performers come together to create a spectacular tribute to some of literature’s greatest works.

This year sees the event enter its 18th year as the tale of Macbeth is brought to the shores of the River Dart. We can’t think of a better setting to experience such a performance!
